I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Mr. Phillips at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. He was absolutely hysterical. A genuinely funny man...surreal at times, maybe...but all the funnier for it. His joke about the French Existentialist seagull had me in stitches :-)

@BlueFlamingoVlogs Yeah, I tend to do that. Dunno why. I dumped that habit a few months back. But I still hate Larry the Cable Guy and Carlos Mencia, but that's because Larry the Cable Guy is an unfunny redneck who's jokes haven't made me laugh ever, and Carlos Mencia because he's a plagiarizing piece o' crapola.

@BlueFlamingoVlogs I know what you mean. What I wrote was 9 months ago, and I've been watching more and more of Emo and he continually cracks me up. Would it mean anything if I rescinded my statements and said "my bad?"

P.S. He called himself Emo long before a bunch of mopey brats decided to turn being whiney into a movement. Seems a lot of people think it was the other way around.

I first discovered Emo in the mid-eighties. He wasn't terribly popular then, sadly. I figured he was ahead of his time. But, judging from some of the comments, people in general still are not ready for this kind of humor. Sad a man can't go on stage and do a brilliant perfomance without the low-lifes and dull-witted grunting things like, "retard", "faggot" or "pedophile". Sad that when people aren't bright enough to follow humor like this they have to hurl ugly words at the talent.

Yes, because when it comes to comedy, I trust the aboslute authority that is Newsweek and not my own taste. I've never seen anything terribly funny in Newsweek, either, so what do they know about comedy?

No, his type of humor is just a bit too intellectual for the kind of person that would say something dimwitted like, "this faggot sucks".
